Violet Loveday (Natalie Morgan-Dew) is the convention Director of the UK Burlesque Convention.

 

Violet created the concept of the convention around twelve months ago as she loved the idea of having all aspects of burlesque under one roof, a fully immersive experience, whether it is a hobby or a career.  The idea of creating a community and strengthening the culture, art form and passion that is burlesque really motivated her to make this a reality.

 

Violet has been teaching burlesque for 10 years and workshops and parties for almost as long.

She is a performer herself under stage name Mizz Twisted Cherry. She professionally performs fire fans, poi with her husband, fire duo act Twisted Phoenix. The performing duo have been established for a decade attended many private gigs and events over the years.

 

After years out of the burlesque limelight, setting up her studio and having her beautiful daughter and dedicating her time to teaching, Mizz Twisted Cherry has now brought her tassels, blood bath, and carousel horse back to the stage and from January 2018 has been performing at venues around the UK. She has performed in the renowned burlesque idol competition, placed first in the Infinitease competition semi-finals 2019 and Won the Seren yn Codi Final at The North wales Burlesque Festival 2019 with a platinum award and the audience award also. She always causes a stir with her raucous acts!

 

She owns and runs her aerial and alternative dance studio, Mizz Twisted Cherry Studios, in Ross-on-Wye, where she teaches regular courses/lessons in the art of tease (which are always sold out) as well as pole fitness, aerial hoop, chair dance and various other circus skills. She was recently awarded the Pole Excellence Award 2018 for outstanding teaching at the Pole World Festival out of 32 nominees across the country.As well as The National Happiness awards for Happiest workplace person out of hundreds of entries. Her most recent award was the  National Family Network award for her studio in the against all odds category.

Her studio was ranked 4th best studio in the UK in the Golden Pole Awards where she also placed 2nd for Best Instructor, she also made the top ten instructors in the Spin City Instructor of the Year award as well being a top 5 finalist for the Instructor of the Year IPC International Award which is worldwide!

She is half of a competitive pole doubles pair who just scooped 3rd place at the UK Pole Sports Championships, this is the organisation that hope to make pole a recognised sport and one day Olympic level. Violet has also judged pole 2 pole heats in Herefordshire and Newport which she was very honored to be a part of.

​

She has trained various dance disciplines:  Burlesque, Flamenco, pole fitness, aerial hoop, pole silks to name a few.

She is vastly qualified in her field (pole fitness, aerial hoop, pole silks, stretch and flexibility, anatomy and physiology, assistant gymnastics coach, clubbercise instructor, cheerleading coach-general cheer) appropriately  insured, enhanced DBS checked and PPL protected.

She is also a part time alternative columnist for Alternate Fashion magazines and blogs as well as a model and has featured on the front cover of the Halloween edition of Twisted Edge magazine.

​

Her experience with events to date sees her in the third year of the annual showcase for her dance studio. Every year this gets vastly larger, this past year it was held at the beautiful Savoy theatre in Monmouth. She has also organised local burlesque recitals in her home town, charity fashion shows and pamper evenings, she has raised money for charities: Meningitis Now, The Dogs Trust, The Puddy Foundation, the YMCA, and mental health charities.

Her knowledge of the events industry extends further from her time as a costume designer (qualified BA hons degree 2:1 theatre design). She has worked with actors such as Pete O’Toole, Michael Madsen, Lisette Anthony, Bai Ling and Ian Hill (bassist of Judas Priest) She is used to working to tight schedules, budgets and meticulous details. She is fully experienced in taking a concept to the next level.
